The mountain cathedral

I am kneeling in the nave of Grace Cathedral, high on the hill of San Francisco.

I am kneeling and crying, mourning the loss of the innocence and youth I had when I kneeled here 15 years ago, full of hope, full of excitement for the future. Full of potential.

Maybe I am still full of all those things.

I comfort myself by repeating,

" I am perfect. I am in the perfect place. "
" I am perfect. I am in the perfect place. "
" I am perfect. I am in the perfect place. "

And of course this is the perfect place. This cathedral feels like being inside a mountain. Even the cable car that took me here seemed magical and blessed.

I knew to come here today, and maybe I will always know the perfect place to go.
